Zambia - Sweden Cooperative Approach

In 2024, Zambia signed a Bilateral Agreement with Sweden on Article 6 Cooperative Approaches. The agreement is intended to accelerate climate action through Article 6 cooperative approaches including capacity building on Paris Agreement rules.

Zambia and Sweden are set to announce their first Mitigation Outcome Purchase Agreement (MOPA) for the first identified mitigation activity. The Swedish Energy Agency (SEA) is acting through its procurement program, the Article 6 Climate Cooperation Fund (ACCTIF) hosted by the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI)’s Carbon Transaction Facility (CTF). The first activity currently under negotiation promotes energy efficiency measures and investments in renewable energy technologies.
